The Rockefeller University Hospital is funded by the National Institutes of Health and has 20 patient beds for clinical research. The Hospital provides researchers with an opportunity to conduct clinical studies, and offers both normal volunteers and people with diseases under study the opportunity to stay in the hospital and help to contribute to important advances in science. The Hospital has an inpatient unit as well as an outpatient center where prospective patients are screened and many outpatient studies are conducted. The Hospital is staffed 24 hours a day with professional nurses and has nutritional research, social work, art and recreation departments, and a radiology suite as well as its own research pharmacy. As a member of the senior management team, the Director of Nursing and Patient Care Services will be responsible for carrying out the defined mission, vision and values of the Rockefeller University Hospital and the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS). Will be accountable at the strategic and operational level to direct, organize, plan, develop and implement all nursing and patient services practice standards, policy formation, human resources management, financial performance and contracting, and patient care services operations. Will be an integral leader and collaborator along with senior medical staff and management staff and will participate in the strategic planning of services for the Department of Nursing and Patient Care Services to meet the mission and goals of the organization. The Director will be responsible for 24 hour administrative direction and management of the Hospital's Nursing and Patient Care Services for the inpatient and outpatient units, including the Departments of Nursing and Social Services. Will provide leadership to continuously improve and transform the practice of Clinical Research Nursing. As such, the Director will be the senior nurse executive with accountability, authority, and responsibility for strategy and operations of nursing staff and patient services.
Master's degree required; Ph.D. preferred. Demonstrated track record of nursing leadership required. Must possess contemporary knowledge of nursing clinical practice standards, regulatory standards, and quality and patient safety standards. Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams to promote optimal outcomes and collaboration, as well as the ability to identify and develop education and quality plans in a clinical research environment, essential.
