Department Description

The Finance Department of the University encompasses the Controller's Office and the Office of Budget, Treasury and Research Administration. These offices are dedicated to ensuring the integrity of data submitted, recorded and reported and to providing the highest level of financial services in support of the University's mission in Biomedical Research.

Detailed Description

The Manager of Accounts Receivable will play a key role in the implementation efforts of the University's new accounts receivable system, which includes coordinating efforts of various staff, Rockefeller University departments, and outside consultants as necessary. Responsibilities include assuring timely and accurate invoicing, monitoring the cash application to make sure all cash receipts are applied properly, managing outstanding invoices, and direct interfacing with customers on collection matters and dispute resolution. Will monitor and analyze the Accounts Receivable Aging Report in order to identify delinquent accounts and take appropriate measure to resolve collection issues, create other financial reports relating to the accounts receivable function bad debt analysis, support Management by providing timely and accurate payment and account standing information, make recommendations to improve quality of invoicing and collection procedures, and assist the Controller and Associate Controller with other projects and tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required. A minimum of five years of accounts receivable or related field experience necessary. Must have extensive knowledge and understanding of proper accounting treatment for accounts receivable transactions and activities. Experience with journal entries, GL reconciliation, as well as written and verbal internal and external customer communications, required. Must be successful in dealing with customer and organization personnel at all levels, be a hands-on, self-starting, disciplined and detail-oriented individual with ability to work independently, and possess strong analytical , communication, organizational and leadership skills. High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook, required.
