Laboratory / Department Comparative Bioscience Center

Department Description

The Comparative Bioscience Center provides a comprehensive program of animal care in support of the University's in vivo research. The goal of our staff is to provide investigators with the highest level of research support at the lowest cost while ensuring the welfare of the animals used in the research. The center is fully accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC).

Detailed Description

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for physically receiving animal order deliveries and performing all related tasks. They will be required to assist in the maintenance of the census system by performing the full facility census scan, processing investigator cage card requests, and scanning cage cards into animal rooms. This position routinely identifies and corrects non-compliant cages, provides general administrative office support and is assigned special projects as needed. The targeted salary is $42,500 to $50,000.

Job Requirements

HS diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree preferred. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Proficiency in tick@lab software preferred. Ability to use/troubleshoot wireless scanning software and hardware. Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills. Ability to work with diverse groups in a professional manner, with changing priorities in a busy environment. Strong customer service skills a must. Capacity to be a team player with a strong sense of integrity and an ability to accept different points of view.
