Laboratory / Department Comparative Bioscience Center
The Comparative Bioscience Center provides a comprehensive program of animal care in support of the University's in vivo research. The goal of our staff is to provide investigators with the highest level of research support at the lowest cost while ensuring the welfare of the animals used in the research. The center is fully accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC).
Will supervise work assignments of 1-2 Group Leaders and various Husbandry Attendants. Responsibilities include monitoring work performance, completing annual performance evaluations, writing SOPs, handling scheduling and timesheets, and ensuring the smooth daily functioning of the workplace.
Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred. Must be certified at the AALAS Laboratory Animal Technician level and have at least 5 years of experience; have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office; be knowledgeable and have experience with all state and federal rules governing animal research, and the ability to recognize common animal laboratory illnesses, the ability to develop standard operating procedures for proper animal care; knowledge of various biohazardous agents and how to minimize the risk of exposure.
