Organization Overview
The Rockefeller University Hospital is funded by the National Institutes of Health and has 20 patient beds for clinical research. The Hospital provides researchers with an opportunity to conduct clinical studies and offers both normal volunteers and people with diseases under study the opportunity to stay in the hospital and help to contribute to important advances in science. The Hospital has an inpatient unit as well as an outpatient center where prospective patients are screened, and many outpatient studies are conducted. The Hospital is staffed 24 hours a day with professional nurses and has nutritional research, social work, procedure suite as well as its own research pharmacy. Overview
The Clinical Research Nurse will be responsible for coordinating and carrying out clinical research study activities accomplished through the development or updating of protocols, procedures, and standards for a study in collaboration with the primary investigator and the research team.
Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:
To teach the research participant protocol and relate specific information regarding the Clinical Research Study.
Reinforce compliance with protocol, procedures, and activities.
Collect research data and specimens as required.
To provide assessment skills and direct nursing care when needed/required.
Teaching research participants protocol and specific information as needed, required.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in nursing required; current New York State Registered Nursing License and a minimum of two years of hospital and direct patient care experience required. Must obtain BLS upon hire and ACLS certification within six months of employment. Must have Phlebotomy skills; IV certification preferred. Must be detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and problem-solve. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required. Strong Microsoft Word and Excel necessary, as well as proficiency in computer programs for documentation development, documentation and creation and use of spreadsheets.
