The Development Program provides in excess of $50 million in private support annually toward the mission of The Rockefeller University, which is to improve the understanding of life for the benefit of humanity. Working with the Board of Trustees and volunteer groups including The Rockefeller University Council, the Committee on Trust and Estate Plans, and the Women and Science and Parents and Science Initiatives, the Development Office oversees all private fund-raising at the University, including annual, capital, and endowment campaigns.
The Development Assistant for the Women and Science (W&S) initiative will provide key staff support for the programs and donors of this initiative, one among several within the Development Office. Launched in 1997, W&S is one of Rockefeller's most effective programs for making the University better known and introducing prospective donors to campus. The Development Assistant will assist the Directors of the W&S initiative in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and volunteers, including all aspects of events planning. Administrative responsibilities include entering data, maintaining databases, running reports, tracking gifts and acknowledgements, and writing correspondence, memoranda, and reports, from draft to final stages, among other activities. The Development Assistant will also contribute to the development and production of print and digital media content and will be responsible for general office functions such as telephone coverage and lending support to other Development Office projects as needed.
Bachelor's degree required. Must have excellent organizational and communication (both verbal and written) skills, be extremely detail-oriented and accurate, and be capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work as a member of a highly collaborative office and produce time-sensitive materials is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database experience required; experience working with fundraising software/Blackbaud CRM preferred. Previous fundraising and events experience preferred.
Must be available to work occasional evening, early morning, and weekend events as necessary.
