Job Title Executive Assistant
Laboratory / Department Molecular Vertebrate Embryology
The ultimate objective of the work in my laboratory is to understand the cellular and molecular basis of vertebrate embryonic induction, with a special emphasis on germ layer and organ formation. Toward this aim we perform comparative studies using both amphibian and mammalian model systems, including human embryonic stem cells.
The Executive Assistant will be responsible for all office tasks with regard to communication and general support of the Head of Laboratory, including personal assistance, appointment scheduling, and arranging international and domestic travel and meetings, including detailed itineraries and event and symposia organization. Will monitor and maintain the Head of Lab's calendar and assist the Laboratory Manager and other laboratory personnel as needed.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Five to ten years of relevant administrative experience necessary. Must have knowledge of operating systems and software packages in a Mac environment. Must be able to anticipate and execute administrative issues in a flexible and efficient manner, work independently, exercise judgment, and follow written and oral instructions. Familiarity with a comprehensive range of typical office tasks required. Must have excellent communication skills, a professional phone demeanor, be able to organize and work independently, maintain confidentiality, and problem solve. Event planning experience a plus. Previous experience in an academic setting desired.
