Rockefeller University Laboratory Manager in New York, New York
Our Laboratory studies germinal centers, which are structures within lymphoid organs where antibodies mutate and improve their targeting capabilities in a process called affinity maturation. This allows the immune system to produce antibodies that are precisely targeted at invaders, resulting in faster and more robust responses upon subsequent exposures.
The Laboratory Manager will promote efficient use and flow of financial and scientific resources in a high-level research environment. Managerial responsibilities will include budget planning and monitoring, overseeing a large mouse colony, preparing animal ethics protocols, laboratory stocking and supply purchases, overseeing compliance with University safety regulations, and orientation of new lab members. Bench science responsibilities will include optimizing lab protocols and supporting ongoing research projects.
Bachelor's degree in science required; advanced degree and educational emphasis in biology or biomedical science strongly preferred. Must have knowledge of general laboratory equipment and materials, as well as the ability to work independently within a team environment. Must possess excellent organizational, record-keeping, and interpersonal skills. Experience working with mice is required. Experience with tissue culture, molecular biology, and flow cytometry are preferred.
