The Clinical Genomics Laboratory (CGL) is the first clinical laboratory established at The Rockefeller University. It focuses on the analysis and reporting of inherited genomic variants that increase the risk of certain diseases in an individual and somatic mutations in tumors that can be utilized for patient management. Also, the CGL is focused on scaling up SARS-CoV-2 testing of home collected saliva specimens. This is a day shift position.
The Laboratory Technician will play an essential role in the Clinical Genomics Laboratory (CGL). Responsibilities include making and organizing COVID test kits, maintaining inventory, distributing kits, picking up/dropping off packages and kits, preparing kits for shipment, and performing data entry as required. Responsibilities also include maintaining a clean and organized robotics area, bench, and storage area used for making kits. The Laboratory Technician will track and replenish inventory of supplies and reagents promptly. Will communicate potential problems or issues to their supervisor and perform other duties as required.
High school diploma or equivalent required; interest in biology and laboratory work strongly preferred. Must be professional and courteous, comfortable working in a medical environment, accurate and precise, punctual, attentive to details, and able to work independently. Ability to follow instructions, know when to ask for clarification, respect confidential information, and be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, Internet, and Publisher necessary. Strong organizational skills are required. Must be a self- motivated individual.
