Department Description
Our laboratory studies social evolution and behavior within complex societies. The sophisticated behavior, communication, and division of labor within ant colonies make these social insects ideal model systems for this work. Our lab uses an integrative approach to understand how natural selection shapes the evolution of insect societies and how social life is regulated at the level of genes, brains, individuals, and colonies.
Detailed Description
The Laboratory Technician will be a highly motivated individual that assists with maintaining ant colonies and general laboratory tasks. Responsibilities include preparing and cleaning plaster nests, feeding ants, following and overseeing ant standard operating procedures, keeping track of and replenishing laboratory supplies, and receiving deliveries.
Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills a must. Strong interest in insects, ants specifically, required. Experience in maintaining insects or other laboratory organisms preferred.
