Research Assistant | Laboratory of Apoptosis and Cancer Biology in New York, NY
Organization Overview
Cell death plays an important role in sculpting a developing organism and in eliminating unwanted and potentially dangerous cells throughout life. Likewise, the degradation of proteins by the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway is required for both protein quality control and the regulation of myriad cellular processes. The Strang Laboratory of Apoptosis and Cancer Biology, led by Dr. Hermann Steller, studies the role of these pathways in normal development, neuronal function and diseases, including age-related neuronal degeneration and cancer.
Overview
The candidate will assist with research on how proteasome transport in neurons affects synaptic biology and age-related neuronal degeneration.
Responsibilities
Assist with basic research in cellular and molecular neurobiology
Perform laboratory maintenance and organization
Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with previous laboratory experience in molecular and cell biology is required. A strong background in neurobiology, genetics, biochemistry, cell culture, imaging, neurobiology, and/or immunology is preferred.
