Job Information
Rockefeller University Research Assistant | Laboratory of Bacterial Pathogenesis and Immunology in New York, New York
Organization Overview
The Laboratory of Bacterial Pathogenesis and Immunology, led by Dr. Vincent A. Fischetti, exploits products derived from bacteria-killing viruses (or phages) to develop antibiotic alternatives for treating and preventing bacterial infections. This strategy identified bacteria-killing enzymes called lysins, with the ability to rapidly kill disease bacteria from a variety of species. One of many such lysins has achieved successful outcomes in the second of three human clinical trial phases, becoming the first antibiotic alternative to attain this goal.
