Detailed Description

Working as part of a 15-person laboratory, the Research Assistant will work with a number of cutting-edge techniques (i.e. CRISPR-Cas9 technology and metabolomics) to elucidate how cellular metabolism contributes to human disorders such as cancer and inborn errors of metabolism. Responsibilities include basic cloning, microscopy, RNA/DNA extraction, manipulation of mammalian cells, quantification of mRNA levels using qRT-PCR, Western and Northern blots, and immunohistochemistry. Will work with mice and spend approximately 5-10% of time handling basic lab maintenance under the lab manager's supervision.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in science required; educational emphasis in chemistry, biochemistry or cellular biology preferred. Experience relevant to the tasks in job description (plasmid-preps, basic cloning, and mammalian cell culture) is desirable. Must be willing to work with mice and have excellent communication and organization skills as well as the ability to prioritize and multi-task. An ability and motivation to anticipate and execute beyond given tasks is highly desirable.
