Rockefeller University Research Assistant in New York, New York
Job Title Research Assistant
Laboratory / Department Molecular Neuro-oncology
Our Laboratory uses high throughput sequencing and other techniques to investigate the proteins that regulate RNA and thereby affect gene expression. Our interest in this system originated from a study of naturally occurring tumor immunity associated with a group of rare brain disorders, and has since expanded to neuron-specific RNA-binding proteins in the mammalian brain, and more generally to functional genomics and human disease.
The Research Assistant will use basic molecular biology and biochemical techniques to assist in microscopy and molecular biology experiments. Will assist postdocs in experiments such as PCR, molecular cloning, HITS-CLIP, immunofluorescence, FISH and Western blots. Will also assist in mouse experiments using IF, perfusions and genotyping.
Bachelor's degree in science required; educational emphasis in life sciences, molecular biology or biochemistry preferred. Background knowledge of molecular biology and genetics desired. Basic knowledge of laboratory practice along with an ability to give full attention to experiments and keep accurate and accessible records is essential.
