Rockefeller University Research Assistant in New York, New York
Job Title Research Assistant
Laboratory / Department Integrative Brain Function
The Maimon lab aims to link the electrical activity of neurons and the biochemical action of molecules to their computational roles in animal behavior. The lab has a particular interest in understanding how central brain structures, distant from the sensory and motor periphery, govern behavioral choice.
The Research Assistant will perform neurobiological experiments in fruit flies, including neural circuit tracing in electron microscopic data sets of fly brains, molecular cloning and plasmid creation, and immunohistochemistry. Additional experiments in single-cell RNA sequencing might also be performed.
Bachelor's degree in science required; educational emphasis in biology, chemistry, or physics preferred. Must have previous experience in molecular biology and immunohistochemical methods, and the ability to learn new techniques quickly. Must have careful attention to experimental detail.
