Job Title Research Assistant
Laboratory / Department Neurobiology and Genetics
The basic approach of our laboratory is to use mouse models of neurological disease to elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which neuronal function is disrupted in Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, stroke and other neuropathological conditions.
The Research Assistant will assist postdocs with experiments, including running behavioral tests using mice and performing surgeries, craniotomies, dissections, brain sectioning, and immunohistochemistry staining. The Research Assistant will also be responsible for maintaining part of the lab's mouse colony, including breeding, genotyping, and weaning. Will assist in other responsibilities as needed, including making solutions for general lab use and placing supply orders.
Bachelor's degree in science required; educational emphasis in neuroscience, biochemistry, or molecular biology preferred. Experience in laboratory bench work and mouse handling required. Must possess basic molecular and biochemical skills, including DNA preparation, PCR, gel analysis, protein assays, and Western blots.
