Department Description

We pursue a combination of biochemical, molecular and genetic approaches to define the checkpoints that regulate B cell development, antibody production and B cell tolerance. A second area of interest is in dendritic cells. Our interests range from the earliest phases of the B cell pathway, including the commitment to becoming a B cell through the completion of maturation. Our ongoing work includes a focus on mechanisms of V(D)J recombination, somatic mutation, isotype switching, allelic exclusion and tolerance.

Detailed Description

The Research Specialist will work on human clinical trials by processing, keeping track, distributing samples, and maintaining the electronic inventory of available samples. The work involves blood sample processing, collection, and storage and processing of infectious materials, including infected individuals participating in clinical trials.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Must have a minimum of five years of previous lab experience and have knowledge of basic lab and sterile techniques. Prior experience with clinical trials is desirable. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office including Excel, in particular the use of pivot tables. Excellent organization skills for the maintenance of sample inventories required. Must be detail-oriented, hard-working, and a team player who can also work independently and perform tasks with accuracy and precision. Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required.
