Job Information

Rockefeller University Study Coordinator in New York, New York

Job: IRC22888

Description

Job Title Study Coordinator

Laboratory / Department Laboratory of Genome Maintenance

Department Description

Throughout its lifetime, a cell's DNA is under constant metabolic and environmental assault leading to damage. Left unchecked, the resulting genome instability initiates cancer and other age-related disorders. Using Fanconi anemia as a backdrop for understanding aging and cancer, our laboratory's research aims to elucidate pathways that prevent cancer development, with a specific focus on those that repair DNA and those that induce permanent growth arrest in response to cellular stress.

Detailed Description

Work in the lab focuses on rare genetic diseases caused by DNA repair deficiency. International Fanconi anemia Registry (IFAR) collects information about patients with Fanconi anemia. The Study Coordinator will serve as the liaison between the research team that runs the International Fanconi Anemia Registry and the affected families. Will help with recruitment, obtaining informed consent, informing families about Fanconi anemia genetics, and other related issues directly to patients and their families. Will obtain and keep records and update a web-based database with patient information, assist in IRB submissions, grant applications, and publications as needed.

Job Requirements

Master's degree required; educational emphasis in biology, public health, genetic counseling or nursing preferred. Must have experience working in clinical and research settings with families with genetic diseases. Must be flexible and able to multitask and have excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational skills. Must be a collaborative team member, but able to work independently. Must have proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and willingness to learn other software programs as needed.
